Here is a young CHEYNE HORAN. He was the Juniors title winner in 1974 and 2 years later in 1976 he entered the ISP. He also rode and introduced boards shaped by McCoy that were pushing new designs at a time when the thruster was taking over. He accumulated 12 victories and seven top five year end finishes and retired from surfing in 1993. Today Cheyne runs a surf school on the Gold Coast in Australia.

The images continue as I came across these. It was hard to just post one for the day when you see the Master Dick Brewer at work in the shaping room. He was creating his master pieces then and is still doing so today.

LIVE YOUR PASSION. FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS

Here is a combined shot of the teacher and his students. Larry Moore believed in all these guys. Bob Barbour, Lance Trout, Dan Merkel & Aaron Chang. These are the guys who are responsible for making Surfing Magazine what it is today. I also felt this was appropriate to share as Larry Moore's Follow The Light Foundation gives a $5000.00 grant to the winning up and coming photographer every year.

Submissions are open and submissions must be received no later than Friday, April 13 2012.

Share & Enjoy the Aloha!
